What you will need for this D.I.Y-

-An iron

-A number of plastic bags

-An ironing board

-Sheets of paper to go on top of the bags stop you from melting them

For my project I began focusing on the negative effects that fashion has on the environment and how to change these into positive effects. Plastic and plastic bags especially are terrible for the environment and normally end up in landfills because 90% of bottles aren’t even recycled . Different kinds of plastic can degrade at different times, but the average time for a plastic bottle to completely degrade is at least 450 years. It can even take some bottles 1000 years to biodegrade! With the rate that landfills are filling with plastic this process is too slow so instead i decided to take old used plastic bags, mainly from shops, and recycle them into unique bags that can have multiple uses. I began by collecting a number of plastic bags that were going to be thrown away and getting out my ironing board and laying down a heat proof sheet. I folded one of my bags over once put heat proof sheet over the top and ironed over it for 15 seconds making sure i kept the iron moving. Then you just repeat these steps until the plastic is the thickness that you want. Then simply sew two pieces together and add a zip or straps depending on what you want to make and you have your D.I.Y bag. I finished mine by sewing in designs that were meant to send out a message.
