At the moment I'm saving up to go travelling and the idea of spending 20-30 pounds on a small eyeshadow pallet is a massive no. However cheap eyeshadow pallets can often leave you disappointed due to the lack of pigmentation and colour. Here are my tips to making cheap eyeshadow bright, vibrant and last longer.
The first tip I've found is to always prime your eyes. When i first heard about primer I thougnt it was pointless until I used the body shops All-in-one tinted concealer+Primer Colour Intensifier. This gives the eyeshadow a good base, makes the colour much more vibrant and helps it to last longer.
Second tip is to use concealer. Start of with a yellow concealer to counteract the colour of the veins on your eyelids. I use MUA Pro Base prime and conceal. Then cover your eyes with concealer that is a shade or 2 lighter then your skin tone.
Thirdly is to have a base colour. If youre using dark eyeshadow colours use a medium coloured brown all over your lid. If you are using bright vibrant colours then I suggest using a white eyeliner to cover the areas you will be applying the eyeshadow. Make sure the white is spread evenly so that the colour will be equally bright, you could also try using a white eyeshadow if you have this.
Lastly is technique. I find that using my fingers initially to pick up the colour and gently dap it on my lids starts the colour of much more pigmented then by using a brush. You can then use a brush to blend any colours in dapping colour back in as you go.
If you follow all these tips your eyeshadow should certainly be more bright and last longer. You don't always have to use expensive products to get an expensive look!
