How To-Grow Your Hair Long And Healthy

I really love having long hair but there really is no point in having that extra length if it's damaged to the point where it looks like it belongs in a hay barn rather than on your head. So heres some simple tips on growing your hair out long and keeping it in good healthy condition.

1.Take a hot shower-it stimulates the scalp making hair more encouraged to grow. Finish off by turning on the cold water to close the pores and give your hair a radiant shine.

2.After applying shampoo massage it into the scalp for a minute or two. Be careful to not be too harsh when massaging the shampoo into your hair as this can cause breakage.

3.Make sure to tell your hairdresser you are growing out your hair. That way they know to only cut off what is needed.

4.Exercise! It improves your circulation so more blood flow will reach your scalp causing hair growth to be stimulated.

5.Make sure you get your 8 hours of sleep a night. A well rested body will perform at its best meaning your hair will grow at your bodys usual maximum speed.

6.Maintaining a healthy diet is a key factor in the overall condition that your hair will be in. Eating foods such as fish, vegetables, fruit and foods that contain vitamin C will improve the look and feel of your hair.

Sushi is a great way to get the right vitamins needed from your diet

7. Minimizing the use of hot tools will leave your hair in much better condition by reducing the amount of damage caused. When you do have to use hot tools makes sure you use heat protectant spray.

8.Putting a hair mask on every two weeks can prevent breakage. Making your own hair masks using natural ingredients is not only cheaper but I've found gives better results. Coconut milk/oil, olive oil, castor oil and surprising even avocado (peeled and mashed up) all give your hair a new lease of life. Make sure with the oils you focus on the ends of your hair. This is the oldest part of your hair therefore the weakest and needs protecting the most.

9.Try to avoid over doing tight hairstyles. It can lead to a lot of breakage especially around the hairline. If you have your up during the day make sure it's down during the night.

10.Take hair, skin and nails vitamins. Folic acid and biotin are also good supplements to take to increase the rate of hair growth. Amino acids have also had several publications that indicate that the amino acid arginine has an enormous effect on hair growth.

11.Lastly make sure you drink plenty of water! Over half your body is water and this includes your hair so drink up.

I hope these simple tips help!

The photo at the top is from a photoshoot I did a while back with SR Bridal Makeup Artist. The ladies name who I worked with is Shahida, she is really lovely and does make-up for all different occasions. Her website is http://www.srbridal.co.uk/. Another one of the photos from our photoshoot is actually on her gallery page! See if you can spot it ^_~
