Do you want colour in your hair without the high maintenance of constantly having to redye it? Without the damage of bleaching it? And with the option to go back to having natural coloured hair in minutes? Find out how I managed achieve all this by reading below!

This was also my outfit for pride. The mask I got on holiday and perfectly matched my hair

Recently I feel in love with the oil slick hair trend and excitedly asked my boss if i could dye my hair that way. The answer was, as I should have presumed, no. I was left feeling really disappointed knowing that I couldn't find a wig to recreate what I wanted either.
I was sat in my hairdressers chair and we started talking about pride and I remembered that last year I had pink in my hair thanks to dyed hair extensions.

I thought if i could get pink why couldn't I get the other colours that were part of the oil slick hair trend in my hair? So I bought 20inch platinum blonde hair extensions and the appropriate dyes which I mixed to get different hues.

I layed the hair extensions out on a table, with foil underneath to stop paint getting on the table (I did this at my local salon as my mum works there). Then I simply just started painting the dye onto the hair making sure both sides were completely covered.
For 4 and 3 clips I applied 3 colours, for 2 I applied 2 and for 1 I applied 1 colour. All this meant colour varied throughout the hair extensions. After all the colour had been applied I covered the hair extensions in foil and left them for 40 minutes then washed them with sulfate free (as sulfate can loosen the glue holding the hair extensions to the wefting) shampoo and conditioner and left them out to dry.

I'm super happy with the results! The pink wasn't actually part of the oil slick hair trend but I couldn't help but add it in! I'm going to call this my mermaid hair.
