Why is it that women who choose to openly wear make-up are judged so strongly by today's society? It is almost seen as wrong. Girls who always wear make-up are seen as 'insecure' 'looking for attention' and the most ironic thing of all is when they then choose to go bare faced they are instantly judged again for all there imperfections.

Take Kylie Jenner for example, on a comment on one of her Facebook photos someone posted 'so much prettier natural without all that clown make-up and weave.' Sure this can be seen in ways as a complement and it is however it is also detrimental because its saying she should be ashamed of wearing make-up as in this persons eyes she looks like a clown.

Everyone seems to forget that Kylie Jenner is her own person and therefore has her own opinion, so if she likes the make-up she wears then why does anything else matter? Sure you could argue saying 'well shes a role model for young girls and if they see her constantly wearing makeup then they will think they have to do the same' on the contrary though she has posted many photos completely make-up free minus eyelash extensions. One of these photos recently got edited and blasted online.

What sort of message is THIS sending out to young girls? The scary thing about how this photo has been edited is its been edited to a realistic point. It hasn't been overdone. The only difference between this photo and the original is a couple of barely really noticeably spots, a slightly more shiny complexion and underneath the eyes has been darkened slightly. So this is meant to be UGLY? That is just a horrible message to send out to young girls and guys! Imagine suffering from acne and seeing this photo. You'd think, what would they say about my skin without make-up? No one should feel shamed into wearing make-up OR into not wearing it. Here is the original.

Kylie looks beautiful without makeup and I think even with heavy make-up she also looks beautiful but honestly if she loves the make-up she wears it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks or says. You may not think you make-up shame but there are certain phrases that people say that is make-up shaming.

Here a 10 of those phrases.

'You look so much better without make-up!'-you're trying to complement me but all I hear is 'and awful with it please stop wearing it'. So how about you just say you look pretty natural?

'You waste so much time applying make-up'-I apologize that what i spend my time doing is so deeply concerning to you but personally I love applying make-up. Its were I get to let part of my creative side out.

'I can tell you're wearing make-up'-well I wasn't born with on point eyeliner.

'How can you be a feminist and wear make-up?'-because being a feminist is about being free to do as you please without judgement? (and without harming others obviously)

'I like girls who dont wear make-up'-good for you, did I ask?

'You know make-up is so bad for your skin? It sinks into your pores'-WRONG. Make-up in fact lies over your pores and your skin is still able to breath. So long as you remove your make-up at night properly, you'll be fine.

'Who are you trying to impress?'-me, when i walk past a reflective surface.

'Think of all the money you've wasted on make-up'-No money is wasted if it's brought you happiness and I mean look how much my highlight makes me glow.

'Why do you feel the need to wear make-up?'-Simple answer-I don't.

'Isn't it all a bit vain?'-Practically everything we do is to boost our ego in some way. I'm sure me having some fun applying crazy colours to my eyes isn't going to make me think I'm Beyonce so everyone can calm down.

So there we go 10 phrases I hope I never have to hear again. If you are guilty of these phrases hopefully you're now aware of how shaming they are towards make-up and make-up wearers and you wont be saying them in the near future!
